Custom Orthotics

About Orthotics

Custom orthotics are specialized shoe inserts designed to provide personalized support and alignment for an individual’s feet. These orthotic devices are crafted based on a detailed assessment of the wearer’s foot structure, gait, and specific biomechanical needs.

Unlike over-the-counter insoles, custom orthotics are tailored to address unique foot conditions such as arch abnormalities, pronation, or supination. They aim to enhance foot function, alleviate pain, and improve overall body mechanics by promoting proper alignment.

Our Process:

All orthotics are hand-made from a 3-D cast of the feet.  Materials used may range from soft foam to rigid plastic, depending on the patient’s feet, footwear, and activities.  Individual features (such as metatarsal pads and heel lifts) are also designed specifically for each patient. This is a true custom-made medical device.

Your orthotic assessment will be conducted by one of our Orthotic Specialists, where a comprehensive bio-mechanical assessment will determine your needs.  A 3D cast of your foot will be captured and then shipped to our product manufacturer, Westfalen Orthotic Services, in Uxbridge.

A follow up appointment will be required as your orthotics will be ready to be picked up and fit to your shoes.  A typical adaptive period can last around 7 -10 days while your feet get used to your new foot platform and your body adjusts to the changes.  After wearing for a period, some patients require modifications to the product due to blisters or other complaints.  When this occurs, simply book a follow up with Dr. Breanna and she will do her best to make minor changes on site or send back to the lab for modifications.

Our orthotics are $525.00 total, and we require a deposit of $262.50 when fitted and a second $262.50 upon pick up.  Most orthotics are covered under an extended health care plan with a physicians prescription, please check your specific plan to ensure coverage.

Orthotics can help with:

Plantar Fasciitis

Custom orthotics can provide support and reduce strain on the plantar fascia, the ligament connecting the heel to the toes, helping alleviate pain associated with plantar fasciitis.

Flat Feet

For individuals with low or collapsed arches, custom orthotics can help provide arch support and improve foot alignment.

High Arches

Custom orthotics can be designed to cushion and distribute pressure for those with high arches, promoting better weight distribution and reducing the risk of foot problems.

Overpronation and Supination

Custom orthotics can correct issues related to overpronation (excessive inward rolling of the foot) or supination (insufficient inward rolling), improving overall foot mechanics and reducing the risk of injuries.

Foot and Ankle Pain

Conditions such as metatarsalgia, bunions, and arthritis can benefit from the support and cushioning provided by custom orthotics, helping to reduce pain and discomfort.

Diabetic Foot Conditions

Custom orthotics can be designed to provide cushioning and support for individuals with diabetes, helping to prevent foot ulcers and other complications.
